Christmas Day Lunch 2025

Christmas lunch by my mother was spectacular! Crumbed prawns, crumbed scallops, fillet of beef with red win jus and potatoes, sliced ham, and pavlova for dessert. It was a lovely day, and the food was incredible!

Gerd Obertopp

Gerd Obertopp was the company General Manager of Hannover Re Australasia for over ten years. When I was first discharged from Hospital, and returned to work in 2020, he took me to lunch at an expensive, fancy restaurant, and treated me to a wholesome, delicious meal, which I'll always be grateful for. During his tenure he made many strategic and wise decisions that made Hannover a major player in the Australasian reinsurance market. He has announced his retirement, and he will be missed by many people.

I had

A warm bread roll with butter

Coppertree Farms Dry Aged Hereford 36 month Grass Fed Rib Eye on the Bone 400 grams 15 days 

With a side of Wood Fire Grilled Creamed Corn, Chipotle Chilli, Manchego 

And for dessert Smoked Vanilla Ice Cream with “Rockpool” Ice Magic 60ml  

My steak came with Bearnaise sauce. The meat was succulent and completely delectable.

 It has taken me a long time, but I have finally had a meal at Rockpool Bar & Grill, Sydney. 

I had for lunch 

Semolina Noodles, Moreton Bay Bug, Smoked Tomatoes, Spicy Prawn Oil with a side of Mac & Cheese 

 

The Semolina Noodles had a sudden, wonderful burst of strong tomato flavor, which was very tasty. The Mac & Cheese had on top a crust of crunchy melted cheese, which was a nice complement.

Loulou Bistro, Martin Place, Sydney

 Loulou Bistro was featured on Sydney Weekender, and having seen the venue and nice looking food on television, I wanted to dine there. I had lunch at the Martin Place restaurant and it consisted of 

Bread, cultured butter

Baked scallop, vadouvan butter

Loulou burger, frites

Crème caramel 

The vadouvan butter on my scallops was flavorsome and classic.
